Default EU airlines monitoring passenger conversations?

Taken from a post in comp.risks:

"If you are boarding a plane within the European Union you may want to
watch what you are saying, as under a new security programme someone is
likely to be listening in..."

Utter rubbish.

If anyone ever gets a speech recognition system that works and doesn't
need people they won't bother messing about with silly anti terror
applications.

They'll sell the stuff to every major telecommunications company in the
world as directory enquiries equipment and retire as billionaires,
leaving all the silly intelligence and police applications as crumbs for
those who come after them.

"Any number under six"

The answer given by Englishman Richard Peeke when asked by the Duke of
Medina Sidonia how many Spanish sword and buckler men he could beat
single handed with a quarterstaff.
