Yes, there are packaged tours, at least from Toronto etc. Bus ("coach") tours seem to be very popular at the Chinese travel agents, the descriptions are all in hanzi. I think Safeway is one. BTW, I wouldn't go all the way from Singapore just to visit Ottawa. Toronto, Montreal and Niagara Falls are all within a relatively short distance (less than 7 hours drive). Ottawa is certainly good for a few days or maybe a week if you're into museums and such like, but I think you'd be climbing the walls after much more than a week. Hope this post is not OT. It is OT in rec.travel.asia. Followups set appropriately. Best regards, Spehro Pefhany -- "it's the network..." Any tour to Ottawa?
Hi,
Any recommendations for a packaged tour to Ottawa? I live im Singapore, and would like to visit Canada in Dec this yr. Hope this post is not OT. TIA Keep in mind Ottawa may be VERY cold in December, particularly with the wind chill. It will be very pretty with Christmas lights and possibly snow, but may also be cold. In December, Ottawa has an average high of -3C and an average low of -15C. If you are interested in Canada you might want to consider Vancouver. You can go visit Whistler and the local mountains to see snow, but it won't be nearly as cold. Singapore Air flies direct to Vancouver. Cheers, Geoff Glave Vancouver, Canada |

I agree visit Toronto and Niagara Falls as well By the way weather is can be cold a snowy in Dec No offense to Torontonians, but Toronto is just "a" city. Singapore is a bigger, nicer city. So a Singaporian won't see anything extraordinary in Toronto. Especially during winter when Toronto is in an eternal gray mode without any significant snow. From Ottawa, you can take tours to Montebello to see tons of wild animals at the Parc Omega which has lots of of Canada's wildlife. Bears and Racoons may be sleeping though, but others will be quite visible. If travelling in a car, you can feed the animals from your car window. (buy tons of carots before you get there :-) You can then continue onwards to Mont Tremblant Resort where you can ski etc. This will provide the visitor with a far different experience than justing a vanilla city with vanilla skyscrapers. If you're going to visit a big city, you might as well visit New York. Tremblant is starting to rival Whistler in terms of townsite (same owners). Not sure December is cold enough to go skating on the Rideau Canal in ottawa though. |
