Don't know what the Carnival transport costs, but taxi was only $35 in
October. However, we had that rare day with ZERO traffic so you may
have to pay more for sitting in a line up.

Have fun!

Taxi is the most direct and least fretful, but make sure your driver
knows the port you want to go to, which is at 231 Windsor Way
Long Beach, California 90802. Can be really expensive if the traffic
is bad or the driver gives you the "scenic tour."

Limousine service is also available, and if there are a number of
people in your party it can be less expensive than some other ways and
you have the limousine experience. Same challenges as the taxi but a
much more relaxes experience.

Shuttle van (Supper Shuttle, etc.) is somewhat less expensive than a
taxi but can be a hassle as they try to fill the van. For rates see
their web page. Has a fixed price so traffic is not a factor, unless
you are running late. Make sure you are being taken to the Carnival
Cruise Port in Long Beach.

The cruise line transport can be the least hassle, but make sure your
luggage is with you. It can be more expensive than a taxi or a shuttle
van for a party , but you are in the "hands of the cruise line" for
what that may be worth.

The trip can take well over two hours if the traffic is bad, so allow
plenty of time. You need to figure at least 30 minutes after reaching
the gate to claim your luggage at LAX.

Have a great trip,
John in LALALand (On the Left Coast)

Wouldn't it work to just say "take me to the cruise ship terminal at
the Queen Mary"? Just asking. 231 Windsor Way works, but only if
they have a GPS or a great memory.

Hmm, interesdting toss up. Cab is faster and easier but will run
close to $60 from LAX to the cruie pier by the Queen Mary. Shuttle is
about $36 or so for two people but is slower.

Public transport will run you about $1.35/person but will take roughly
two hours on up, and require as many as four transfers...airport free
bus to light rail, light rail to light rail, light rail to free
shuttle to Queen Mary/Carnival...and none of the light rail trains or
the shuttle in Long Beach end have any luggage storage space, you
usually have to wedge it onto empty seats or odd corners of the
aisle...ugly.

If you have a family of three or more, consider a 1 day car rental
from an agency with a drop off by the pier or in downtown Long Beach,
drop everyone off, hand over your luggage, go return the car and hop
the free shutle back to the pier...or do some sightseeing on your way
down to the port.

Tell 'em Carnival Pier in Long Beach by the Queen Mary and unless
they dropped in from the back of beyond (and there's cab drivers in
L.A. that seem to have just gotten off the boat from Outer Ruritania
and coudln't find the Hollywood Sign with a pair of binoculars and a
guide book. I've had a Long Beach cab driver who didn't know the city
had a World Trade Center (it's the tallest building in Long Beach at
27 stories..sort of hard to miss.)

Try contacting road runner shuttle www.rrshuttle.com. They have an 800# on
the web site. Book in advance. I think a shared 7 passenger van is $10.00 pp
or a small private car is $65.00 plus tip. They will pick you curbside at
LAX. You just call them when you get off the plane and it take them about
15-20 minute to get over to the terminal, just time to get your bags off the
carousel.
