Refridgerators?
I noticed that the cabin I have booked for my first cruise includes a
refrigerator. I'd fully assume this is your standard dorm room sized mini-fridge, but my question is do they typically have a small freezer section that I could use to freeze an ice pack or two? Thanks. If you need specifics, this is for the Island Princess |

I've never seen a frig with freezer capacity on any cruise ship.
Definitely not on Princess. Arlene " wrote: I noticed that the cabin I have booked for my first cruise includes a refrigerator. OK, that's what I expected...
Some of the min-fridges in hotels have a very small corner (think 2 vhs tapes stacked up) section that act's like a mini freezer. Thanks. There may be a freezer section as they call it, but it's usually just a tray
under the plate that keeps the fridge cold. I've never had one of these types actually freeze anything, be it ice, ice packs, etc. It would probably be better to ask your room person to get it frozen for you. " wrote in message ... If you get a refrigerator it will be
most likely a very small unit with at best a small shelf type "Freezer" compartment. [Owner's suites tend to have larger units for the Butler!] My experience with these small units has been they will, if everything is working properly, barely freeze one "blue ice" container. Unfortunately, some of them are installed in little compartments that do not provide them sufficient ventilation to operate properly. Better ask your Room Steward to freeze the pack for you. Make sure you say when you want it back! Also, once frozen, the little freezer will keep it "ready to go." Have a wonderful cruise! We have had good luck with Princess, "dorm" sized and empty. When you get there, it will be set on cool rather than cold. I assume they do that to prevent ice build up around the cooling coils, since they are not "frost free". Turn the thermostat to "max" and you will have no problem. Carnival was the worst. Jammed full "mini bar" that cooled things off at best. Bad design with poor equipment. Room steward said they could not empty it, locked or unlocked were the only options "Anything that doesn't kill you,,,,,,,just hurts a hell of a lot" JLP20 |
