Booking at airport
Just a quickie really. Is it still possible to turn up at the airport with
your case and buy a holidya there and then? Just thinking about upgraded security etc. If it is possible are the prices good or are they the same as if you were to book a day or so beforehand? I hope I'm clear, Dave |

On most routes, only the most expensive tickets are available at the last minute. Since you clearly have access to a computer, you're better off going to the airline's web site and buying your ticket ahead of time. Even if it's no cheaper, you'll know that you have a seat when you get there. |

I just wondered if it was still possible and if there were great deals to be had. Thanks for your quick reply, Dave |

Booking at airport

Shawn Hirn wrote: It depends on what's most important to you, traveling cheaply or spontaneously. You can't do both at the same time on most airlines. If you just want to show up at an airport and book a ticket for a flight that departs the same day, expect to pay top dollar. Also, take along baggage, make sure it isn't one way, and don't pay cash. If you violate these rules I can just about guarantee you you will be having a rather earnest talk with officialdom (at least in the US). You will have violated about every part of the drug runner profile (g). |

Stay at home then. It's far cheaper (unless you live in the UK). |

There do not seem to be any travel agencies there. The Singapore Airlines sales office quoted some absurd full-fare price for the flight I wanted. So I got out my laptop, used the free wireless connection and bought the ticket online for about 1/3 of that price. Then I showed the sales staff the booking reference and they printed the itinerary for me. What a silly system. The sales staff agreed but said they were only allowed to sell full fare at the airport. Some airports do have travel agents. And some seem to be OK for buying budget airline tickets (e.g. Jakarta domestic). -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |
