Surfer said " when our time comes ,I hope we can go together"

Had to come out of lurker mode to reply to this. That is a very selfish
attitude. It would be horrible enough for your children or grandchildren
to lose one parent, but to wish them the loss of both parents at the
same time is just too much.

Jeff,

I am sure glad I read your post in total. For a second there I thought
your mom had joined the "undead" and forgot how to turn herself into vapor
and just rise from the grave and turn into a bat. If you haven't guessed
it, I got a collection of "Hammer" films DVD for Christmas. Ingrid Pitt is
probably the best lady vampire to grace the movie screen.

Brian,
You are weird! ;-)

I just finished watching Attack of the Crab Monsters. I totally love
the late 50's/early 60's "atomic" monster flicks.

Some people are like a Slinky: not really
good for anything, but you still can't help
but smile when you shove them down the stairs.

I know you're weird, Nonny! My imagination would never run that wild .

The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms was one of the best ones...

Our cable company has a high def monster channel that shows all those old
movies in hi def... WAY KEWL.

Jeff,
I'm sorry about your Dad...he lived a nice long
life. Those falls are bad for any one no matter
what age, but especially at that age. I had a
bad fall that resulted having a craniotomy and
you can bet I am now very careful and it really
pains me when I see anyone fall and strike
their head. You're a good son checking on
your Mom...I hope she didn't already get out
there...too many icy patches.

Thank you, Jean.

Mom actually had shovelled except for the end of the driveway where the
snow plow had left a heavy load. Growing up in Minnesota makes one
hearty.

Dad's fall actually broke something in his back that was supposed to
heel itself, but take time. Unfortunately, it led first to pneumonia,
then a blood disorder, and ultimately to his passing away.

Previously, at not quite 99, he fell and broke his hip. The operation
supposedly went quite well, but he soon was in the ICU. While going up
to visit him on July 4th weekend, we ran into my wife's doctor on the
elevator. He had been covering the ICU. He said his instructions said
the patient was supposed to die over night. He lived another 2 1/2
years! When you have an excellent immune system, you can handle a lot.
If not for that last fall, I'd expect him to still be with us.

together. its a brave thing though...

That was my first thought as well, but man... that's still not an
unpainful way to go.

Actually, they would probably been killed or at least knocked
unconcious by the impact. Water is very, very hard. Two or three
years ago a kid was seriously injured when he did a belly flop from
the 10 metre board.

Men are like a carpet. Lay them well and you can
walk on them for years.
