GOING ON A CRUISE....STANDY
hi: Does anyone know if one can go on a cruise "Standby".
In other words, I live in Vancouver near the Cruise Ship terminal . We are senior citizens and could leave with a couple of hours notice..........we could always have our suitcases packed and ready to go. If the ship is leaving and they have empty Cabins, do you think we could get a very very low price by getting on standy. Is there such a thing? Thank you, |

Since 911... they seem to have different rules. The TA's here can add more
detail. But I think the answer it NO. --Tom "*** LORRAINE" wrote in message news:f00cg.32488$fV1.5614@edtnps82... hi: Does anyone know if one can go on a cruise "Standby". Thanks Tom.
Do you think we could get a better price, let's say three or four days before the Ship leaves? Lorraine. "Tom K" wrote in message ... Since 911... they seem to have different rules. Thank you. Do you think this is handled by a Travel Agent or do I have to go through the Cruise Line Company for these last minute deals? Lorraine. I get postings from a large number of agencies ... The cruiselines themselves don't seem to mass mail these offers ... my remembrances are that Cru-Con and Last Minute Travel seemed to have more of these last minute deals ... though any TA gets informed by the cruiselines ... and if you know a helpful one ... just ask him to keep an eye out for you .... |

I get the notices about Happy Hour (Tuesdays) from RCI on about Thursday. I don't know if those go out to the general public. There's almost always one for a cruise about two weeks out. Speaking of Happy Hour, this time it runs from Friday through Monday. -- dillon I didn't climb to the top of the food chain to become a vegetarian. |

That one is pretty regular ... but with days changing often like this week's ...The others from Carnival lines or NCL come rather sporadically ... but also with good deals ...especially a QMII transatlantic ... Quite often NCL sends out some great discounts for last minute cruises like Hawaii ... but even if I could just go ... the airfare makes it no longer a bargain ... If looking for a last minute deal ... I guess it is best to get a lot of email from different places ... and filter through to find something .... |
