Pa. Couple Calls Cruise 'Trip From Hell'

MARIETTA, Pa. -- A Lancaster County couple is just back from a vacation
they won't forget anytime soon.

They paid thousands of dollars only to get stuck aboard a cruise ship
full of sick passengers.

Eileen and George Rzecinski only have three pictures from their 12-day
Caribbean cruise. That's because they spent most of it not sightseeing,
but quarantined in their cabin.

"We were locked in our room, couldn't go anywhere," George Rzecinski
said.

"It's the trip from hell. People say you're never going to forget it.
You're not kidding," Eileen Rzecinski said.

Two days into their cruise aboard the Sun Princess, the captain
announced a passenger had the norovirus, a stomach and intestinal
illness. It wasn't long before the Marietta couple came down with it.

"They had to come and disinfect our room three to four times a day.
They told me 85 cabins were affected," Eileen Rzecinski said.

To make matters worse, they had to order room service every night and
with so many cabins infected, room service couldn't keep up.

"Every time they brought food it was cold. They didn't bring a spoon
for our Jello, so we had to eat it with our fingers," Eileen Rzecinski
said.

Eileen Rzecinski had gotten the cruise for her husband as a Christmas
present. George Rzecinski is a train buff and they were excited to see
a railroad in St. Kitts.

"Never got off the ship. Never saw that train," George Rzecinski said.

"We missed four out of the five ports," Eileen Rzecinski said.

Eileen Rzecinski has already e-mailed the cruise line asking for a full
refund. The response she got says company officials would be in touch
with her in four to six weeks.

"If you were my worst enemy I wouldn't recommend this cruise to you,"
Eileen Rzecinski said.

A horrible vacation and thousands of dollars later, the Rzecinskis are
now waiting to see if Princess Cruises will smooth over the rough
waters. Eileen Rzecinski had cruise insurance. She's also contacting
her credit card company to try to stop payment on the cruise.
