Wanting to buy a digital camera
When considering digital cameras, take a look at how they
connect to their "home" computer. For years, I've used a Fuji camera and just bought Mrs. Nonnymus a Z1 Fuji for in her purse. Both connect through a "dock" that both keeps the camera powered and also is its USB connection to the computer for download. It's as simple as dropping the camera into the slot, and sure saves a lot of cables. The new camera Mrs. Nonnymus is currently fighting and cussing as she learns the ropes, is great for travel. It is smaller and thinner than a deck of cards. She'll be carrying it in her purse, once she gets the hang of it, and that means it can get bumped and bruised. In the case of the 5.1 megaPixel Fuji Z1, the lens never extends outside the case, even when shooting telephoto, and the entire camera lens/face is protected by a sliding cover. The large screen on the camera's back is REINFORCED as well, to protect it in a pocket or purse. We once had a Kodak digital camera that we dropped on the lens while handling it. The camera was trashed. Likewise, my older and larger Fuji has a lens that extends well beyond the camera when turned on. I once had it in my front pants pocket and the button got bumped. By the time I realized what had happened, three ladies and one bartender had asked for my hand in marriage and even Mrs. Nonnymus was viewing me in a whole new light. Mrs. Nonnymus won't let me play with her new camera, yet, but the pictures I've seen are very bright and colorful. The camera can also shoot movies in 640 X 480, which is plenty good to view on a computer screen. The Fuji Z1 (at Sam's Club) also comes with a 256 meg chip as the Sam's Club bonus. I also understand that Sony now offers a camera with the internally zooming lens, so I suspect that this is the direction many cameras are headed. Nonnymus Dave wrote: wrote in message ups.com...
