Default Orbitz & Delta ticket reissuing

I purchased non-refundable roundtrip e-tickets through Orbitz back in 12/'03
but had to cancel. At the time of cancelling I was told to call them
(Orbitz) back when I was ready to reschedule. Now when I try to reschedule
the flight Orbitz says to call Delta & Delta says to call Orbitz. Though
Delta doesn't want to offer the tickets for the price offered on Orbitz.
Anyone have any advice? T.I.A.

Anyone have any advice?

I'm finding that once a ticket is sold online, that the record locator you
have with the AIRLINE is the best starting point. If you have a Delta
record locator and (even more important) a ticket number (the "ticket
number" is the ultimate legal document related to the money credit you have
with an airline) then you should be able to call Delta, and ask them to
pull up the record, and give you your credit options. If you can't pull up
the record by "record locator", then you should be able to recover the paper
trace by ticket number. Nine times out of ten, the airline can refund, or
offer a credit, or rebook you with a fee from there. Orbitz should be
pretty much out of the loop, once a ticket is issued. I would push Delta to
give you the dollar credit for the ticket you have issued, minus any
rebooking fees.
