AA Gold - Is this right ?

If I take all the flights I now have booked I should (finally) achieve AA
Glod status in Dec 05. My reading of the membership guide implies I only
keep this status until Feb 06, This can't be right can it ?

No, you will have gold status until Feb 07. I believe your new status will
start in Jan. 06.

Typically the status starts as soon as you have the miles, which would be in
Dec 05.

If your outbound brings you over the limit, you will be qualified on your
return trip.

But what is AA Gold good for?

In 2003, I got suckered by AA into taking its "fast track" offer
(something like a few flights within 3 months) to be AA Platinum.

I found the AA Platinum to be completely useless, and never flown
it since I became Platinum. :-) Traded those few AA miles for
Hilton points.

Does AA give priority seating to Gold members (such as exit rows, and seats
toward the front)? Alaska and UA do that for their frequent flyers.

That is if you can convince the BA check-in dragons to recognise it -
a lot haven't a clue, since the BA program does not have a OW Ruby
level equivalent, so a lot are ignorant of the benefits.
